General

Interior

Has the page order of the “initial work” correctly been incorporated? In most cases, the ordering is as follows:

I. (French) Title page

II. Colophon

III. PhD page

IV. PhD committee

√ Did you make a PDF file of the interior?
√ Do all chapters start on the right-hand page?
√ Are the page numbers centred or placed at the sides (left on a left page and right on a right page)?
√ Are the headers placed at the sides (left on a left page and right on a right page)?
√ Are the white margins at least 15 mm?
√ Do all figures have sufficient quality? (zoom in to 400% in the PDF: when image quality is poor, print quality will be poor).
√ Is 3 mm bleed margins added as required and have they been added correctly? (only required when something moves outside the page, see chapter 4 of our manual).
√ Does the file possess the appropriate format? (Standard 17×24 cm)
√ Is the black letter font 100% black? (a black letter text consists sometimes of the four CMYK colours).
√ Is ProefschriftMaken || www.proefschriftmaken.nl been added in the colofon?
√ Are there any rotated pages in the PDF?
√ Have all fonts been embedded? (see the settings of PDF, fonts)

Propositions

Invitation

√ Did you make a PDF file of the invitation?
√ Does the invitation have sufficient quality? (zoom in to 400% in the PDF: when image quality is poor, print quality will be poor).
√ Have 3 mm bleed margins been added to all sides of the invitation?
√ Is the size of the invitation correct? (standard 7 x 23cm)

Adobe products

If you have created your thesis in Adobe Indesign, you can use this TUTORIAL to export to a PDF with the appropriate settings. If you do it this way, all images and fonts used will be packed automatically.
